We are one of the few early years nurseries in North Somerset to offer a True Forest School. Forest School is a learner-centred and specialised approach to outdoor and woodland education, inspired by early outdoor learning pioneers and Scandinavian traditions. Sessions adapt to the changing seasons and natural environment, ensuring rich opportunities for discovery while following shared principles that provide lasting benefits for all learners.

As part of our enhanced offering, we use the Famly online nursery system — a bespoke application designed specifically for early years settings. Famly allows practitioners and parents to communicate regularly and share each child’s learning journey. Parents can contribute home learning experiences to their child’s journal, helping to create a holistic view of development. Through the secure Famly app, families can access learning journals, view photographs from their child’s day, and stay connected with nursery life. The system also provides on-demand access to policies, permissions, and essential documentation, allowing parents to access important information quickly and conveniently at any time.

At Busy Buddies Daycare, we believe in the power of connection across generations. Our ongoing partnership with Mead Fields Care Home gives a small group of preschool children the opportunity to visit the care home every fortnight, taking part in shared activities, conversations, and experiences with residents. These visits are more than enjoyable outings — they create meaningful benefits for everyone involved.

For children, spending time with older adults nurtures empathy, patience, and communication skills, while sparking curiosity through stories and experiences from another generation. It helps them develop a positive understanding of ageing and a strong sense of belonging within the wider community.

For residents, the visits provide companionship, mental stimulation, and gentle physical activity. The joy and energy children bring can lift mood, reduce feelings of loneliness, and create a renewed sense of purpose.
